A.A. Bondy has had to postpone his December tour dates due to an illness in the Felice Brothers camp. All very sad, but nothing super serious we are glad to report. We can only apologise heartily.
The good news is that the tickets for The Lexington for 13 December are transferable to his new headline date at the Purcell Rooms on 4 March 2012, ticket info HERE.
A full set of UK headline dates will be announced very soon.
February 20th 2012 (Feb 21 U.S.) will see the release of the brand new album from Michael Hadreas, aka Perfume Genius, “Put Your Back N 2 It”.
Where “Learning” was stark and confessional however, “Put Your Back N 2 It” is lush and universal, and sees an expansion of both his thematic and sonic palette, playing as a broad meditation on intimacy, power, family, secrecy and hope, not just through his impressionistic lyrics, but through the music itself as well. Check out the taster track “All Waters” here and see for yourself. Perfume Genius will also be heading over to the UK for a clutch of highly anticipated live dates in the spring.

I wonder who will be writing me in twenty years, and what they’ll be looking for. Don’t worry, I’m not writing to talk about the things I’m looking for in life, I’ll spare you that. I’m writing to FINALLY be able to send you a song that I wrote in 2008. When I wrote this song I was the guitarist in a band called Holy Shit, Matt Fishbeck (our fearless leader) was the one who turned me on to Felt. I fell in love with your songs, I wouldn’t stop listening, I loved you and Maurice. To make a long story a shorter story, I once wrote this song and wondered what you would sing to it, I could sometimes hear your voice but I didn’t dare write down any words. I never thought for a second you would ever hear it, I wondered if you would like it, all that. I called it Lawrence, after you. To send it to you now is incredible for me, I want to show you I’m thankful. You gave me something to love, or in other words you gave me love itself. You took something that can sometimes feel so common and dull and brought it back to life with so much beauty and verse. You gave me happiness, and you still do. Anyway, I’d just like you to have it, it’s yours, take it as yours. Do anything you want with it. I hope you enjoy listening to it. And all the best to you forever and ever.
With love- Christopher Owens”
And so goes the letter from Girls front man and songwriter Christopher Owens to Felt, Denim and Go Kart Mozart front man and songwriter, Lawrence.
The letter tells you everything you need to know about the song, which will be released in the UK and Europe on limited edition, heart-shaped red vinyl through Fantasy Trashcan (Turnstile) on 28th November 2011, and December 12th in the U.S. on True Panther Sounds.

Islet have announced their debut album,
to be released 23rd January 2012 on Shape (Turnstile).
Illuminated People follows 2010’s rapturously
received pair of EPs – ‘Celebrate This Place’ and ‘Wimmy’.
The ten tracks stand as a bold opening statement from the Cardiff group
who have quickly confirmed themselves as uninhibited by conventions,
relishing expanse and experimentation.
The album was largely recorded on a farm in Worcestershire
and for the first time the group worked with an outside producer,
Drew Morgan, bringing together what has now become their most
coherent record to date.
The first taster of which is ‘This Fortune’ available for free
from here: http://tinyurl.com/Islet-ThisFortune
It’s live where Islet have thus far built their reputation,
sometimes with ritualistic chants delivered offstage;
meandering off into the crowd, percussive breakdowns,
always with tumult and joy.
In person as in their music, they seek to break down walls.
Expect the unexpected when they tour this November:
11 November – Manchester, Deaf Institute
12 November – Leeds, Constellations Festival
13 November – Nottingham, Bodega
14 November – Norwich, Arts Centre
15 November – Brighton, Green Door Store
16 November – London, Lexington
17 November – Cambridge, Portland Arms
19 November – Hague, Crossing Borders Fest, The Netherlands
20 November – Antwerp, Crossing Borders Fest, Belgium
23 November – Cardiff, Buffalo
28 January – Liquid Room, Tokyo
Also available, on tour only, will be a 12″ of This Fortune,
featuring a vinyl only 15 minute sound collage made by the group;
a swirling mass of found sounds, fragmented thoughts
and previously unheard tracks.
