Video Nasties
Formed in a rough skeletal shape back in 2005, it wasn’t until mid-2006 with a spate of new recruits that the barely out of their teens Video Nasties are how we see them today. Falling out of their North London garden shed, brothers Max and James Churcher recruited their closest school friends and spat out their earliest incarnations with a venom and passion that shook those wooden walls to the very foundations.
Tellingly, none of the bands can agree on one unifying influence. Nirvana. Sonic Youth. The Pixies. Joy Division. Dinosaur Jr. Pavement. All bands often recalled and revisited for their underlying spirit and energy. Spirit is a word repeated often when dealing with Video Nasties as a collective. Spirit and energy – words that the band simply could not exist without.
